Post doctoral Fellows
Dr. Sriji S. Nath is currently a Faculty at Christ University, Bangalore. She joined our lab in 2021 as a CSRI–DST Post-Doctoral Fellow, where she investigated the behavioural, structural, and molecular mechanisms of memory and learning in aging and rodent models of Alzheimer’s disease, building on her expertise in sleep neurophysiology and electrophysiological approaches.
Project associates
Vaishnavi V is currently a doctoral student at the University of Bordeaux. In our lab, she established and validated the radial arm water maze for assessing learning and memory in rodents, developed a custom-built fiber photometry setup, and conducted social memory experiments, including setting up optical instrumentation to study specific neuronal populations.
Dissertation Students
Saujanyaa Surendran is currently a Senior Scientist at SynGene. During her time in lab (Jan 2025), she explored how molecular pathway regulation relates to memory formation.
Sarang Gajare did his Master’s thesis in lab during December 2024 – June 2025. His work was on designing and developing advanced imaging systems and innovative tools to study brain function at cellular and subcellular levels, driven by a long-standing fascination with the brain and its complexities.
Arjun Kowshik is currently a graduate student at Johns Hopkins University. He joined our lab in January 2024, where he completed his undergraduate thesis focused on developing a non-invasive optoelectronic device to study neuronal activity.

Palash Ahuja joined the lab in November 2023 as a Master’s dissertation student and later continued as an intern, where he worked on elucidating the role of parvalbumin interneurons in specificity and higher-order association, and on mapping brain regions involved in higher-order association.

Aayush Banerjee is currently a Doctoral student at Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He joined in August 2024 as a thesis student, where he worked on elucidating the role of parvalbumin-positive interneurons in regulating memory specificity and social behaviour.

Ria Bhat completed her Bachelor’s thesis in our lab, where she worked on understanding fundamental processes underlying neural function and cognition, driven by a deep curiosity about the brain’s complexity.

Prisha Anand is currently a Master’s student at BITS Pilani. She joined in May 2024, where she worked on observational learning and social interaction in mice, exploring neural mechanisms underlying learning, memory, and social behaviour.

Aparajita Asane is currently pursuing MRes Neuroscience in Newcastle University, UK. She joined our lab in December 2023, where she worked on higher order associations and social interaction.

Shreya Gopinath is currently pursuing an MS in Applied Cognition and Neuroscience at UT Dallas. She joined in January 2024, where she worked on the neuronal circuitry underlying memory formation and retrieval, focusing on the neuronal underpinnings of related memories.

Swati joined in January 2024, where she worked on the neuronal underpinnings of related memory, exploring the dynamics of memory.
